Azetidine and Pyrrolidine Synthesis:
Through cyclisation of easily accessible homoallyl amines we found that we could access cis 2,4-azetidines or cis 2,4-pyrrolidines from the same starting materials.
Azetidines are first obtained via 4-exo iodocyclisations which can be cleanly converted into the corresponding cis pyrrolidines by a thermally induced isomerisation. |

The azetidines and pyrrolidines thus obtained display versatile alkyliodide motifs which allows for further functionalisation providing facile access to, for example, amine and triazole derivatives. |
